Vic Elford won the Targa with Umberto Maglioli for Porsche in a 907 in 1968. The same pair came second a year later in a 908/2. Helmut Marko co-drove to a win at LeMans in a 917 in 1971. In 1972, Elford and Marko were teammates for Alfa Romeo (in different cars). 'Nuff said by way of context. Here's some road racing:
