Understeer Much?

Reed Rollo, Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce, Virginia International Raceway, April, 1961.  Contrary to what you might think from this picture, Alfas were great-handling cars, dominating G and D Production for a decade.  Here, Mr. Rollo is following The Rule: look where you want to go, not where you're going.  His Alfa is not cooperating.

This is off topic PA, but I was wondering if you had ever did the 'Route 66' thing?
If I remember correctly, you live up around Chicago don't you?
I've seen parts of 66 in Illinois and Missouri, and have often day dreamed about doing the whole thing but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Hey, WT, it's about the conversation, not the topic. Anybody welcome to bring up anything, and am glad to add "Killboy Facebook" refugees who want to be authorized posters.

Yeah, Chicago area. Have done parts of 66 hereabouts--not as much as you have. If you cruise the "Old 66" websites, you can find the original stretches. Never been west of Santa Fe or south of San Fran, so I don't know the western parts of 66 at all.

It's still in heavy use from the Loop down to Joliet for everyday traffic. Not much "ambience." Joliet is trying to cash in on the tourism, so it's touristy. South of there, it feels more like the old road, as I imagine it anyway. Long stretches of expansion-joint concrete.

You're east coast, no? Old 66 would be a fun run if you built the drive around other stuff you wanted to see in each State. Long trip, though.
