ALMS Is Good ENOUGH...

Risi Competizione Ferrari 458 Italia at Sebring, 2011

Watched the Lime Rock American LeMans Series race on TV today.  And I'll be at Road Atlanta for the 9-hour race in October.  The GT class is the best road racing in the States these days.  They're high-tech and bloody fast.  And they use the challenging North American tracks: Laguna Seca, Mosport, Road America, Road Atlanta, Sonoma.  And they're production-based.

The cars are evenly matched.  The racing is clean.  What's not to like about BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, and Porsche chewing on each other for hours?  I've hung my forearms on the fence for 50 years.  Short of the glory days of CART on "legitimate road circuits," as Emerson Fittipaldi calls them, there has been no better spectating than ALMS GT.
